Dr. Masaru Tanaka specializes in dermoscopy and dermatopathology. He is a leading expert in dermoscopy, has given lectures on these subjects both in Japan and abroad, and is the author of numerous books in Japanese and English. Completed his medical degree from Keio University School of Medicine and joined the Department of Dermatology at the same university (Chair: Professor Takeji Nishikawa) that same year.

1988

Certified as a dermatologist by the Japanese Society of Dermatology.

1992

Awarded a PhD. from Keio University for research on bullous pemphigoid.

1993–1995

Studied abroad at the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK (under the late Professor Ronald Marks, Chair), where he wrote a shading correction program using the C language and conducted research on the automatic quantification of lesion area
